Saint Paul, Minnesota – The North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters have announced their official endorsement of Trista MatasCastillo for Ramsey County Board. MatasCastillo is running for District 3, which encompasses Falcon Heights and Saint Paul neighborhoods of Payne/Phalen, North End/South Como, Como Park, Frogtown, and Hamline-Midway.

“I’m proud to have the Carpenters as strong allies in bringing good paying jobs to Ramsey County,” MatasCastillo said. “Our union brothers and sisters work hard to support their members and we need to bring that same mentality to serving our county residents.”

The North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters represents nearly 26,000 union members and their families from 36 local unions in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Adam Duininck, Director of Government Affairs, voiced the carpenters’ strong support.

“Ramsey County should be a place where everyone has a chance to succeed,” Duininck said. “Trista is absolutely the right person to bring those values of social and economic equality to the board and we couldn’t be more proud to support her.”

Trista has also been endorsed by the Operating Engineers Local 70, Teamsters Local 120, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 110, and the Stonewall DFL Caucus. She previously worked as an advocate for affordable housing with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity where she helped secure a historic $100 million statewide investment in housing across Minnesota in 2013. She currently works as a principal aide for the District 1 Ramsey County Commissioner.

Trista is a veteran who served 16 years in the United States Navy, the United States Marine Corps, and Minnesota National Guard. She lives in the Payne/Phalen Neighborhood with her husband, Hector, and their five sons.
