Saint Paul, Minnesota – The Teamsters Local 120 have announced their official endorsement of Trista MatasCastillo for Ramsey County Board. MatasCastillo is running for District 3, which encompasses Falcon Heights and Saint Paul neighborhoods of Payne/Phalen, North End/South Como, Como Park, Frogtown, and Hamline-Midway.

“I’m so proud to have the support of our Teamsters,” MatasCastillo said. “Their commitment to economic and social justice are a perfect fit for the change we’re looking to bring to Ramsey County.”

Teamsters Local 120 is a union organization with a membership of nearly 12,000 workers at over 300 private and public employers in four states: Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Paul Slattery, Political Director of Teamsters Local 120, said MatasCastillo’s commitment to supporting labor played a key role in their decision to endorse.

“We are confident that as a Ramsey County Commissioner, Trista will continue to serve all of Ramsey County very well,” Slattery said.

Trista has already been endorsed by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 110 and the Stonewall DFL Caucus. She previously worked as an advocate for affordable housing with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity where she helped secure a historic $100 million statewide investment in housing across Minnesota in 2013. She currently works as a principal aide for the District 1 Ramsey County Commissioner and as the Development Director for Journey Home Minnesota, a statewide nonprofit serving families and victims of domestic violence and military veterans and their families.

Trista is a veteran who served 16 years in the United States Navy, the United States Marine Corps, and Minnesota National Guard. She lives in the Payne/Phalen Neighborhood with her husband, Hector, and their five sons.
